On this first day of our five-day tour in Portugal, we begin by visiting Lisbon’s historic districts such as; Alfama, Bairro Alto, Chiado, Baixa de Lisboa, always with a historical accompaniment of each place. Reviving Medieval Lisbon with its different civilizations from the Moors to the present day. Lunch will be your choice but our guides / drivers can advise a restaurant. Visit to Belém with its important monuments of the century XVI and of course the visit and tasting to the factory of the Pasteis de Belém …Visit also the “new” Lisbon, where in 1998, Lisbon received the Expo 98, possible visit to the Oceanarium.
On the second day of our itinerary, the day will be spent in Sintra, in what is the Paradise of the aristocracy in Portugal. Upon arriving in Sintra, we will decide together which is the best palace to visit from among them; National Palace of Sintra, Pena Palace, Quinta da Regaleira, Palace of Monserrate, Castle of the Moors. We must stop in the historical center for tasting the Queijadas de Sintra and the Pillow of Sintra. Visit to Cape Roca already on the way to Cascais where we will make a short stop to Boca do Inferno, stop in the center of Cascais. Next to Cascais we have Estoril, known by his Casino, but also because it was the favorite place of espionage in Portugal during World War II. Arrival to Lisbon along the Marginal road always flanking the sea until arriving.
On the third day of our itinerary, we leave Lisbon to Fatima where we will pay tribute to our lady, time to attend a mass and visit the houses where the children were born impeccably preserved. Leaving Fatima, the next stop of our itinerary will be in Coimbra in time to visit one of the most beautiful libraries in the world, the Joanina Library, inside the palace of the oldest university in Europe. Visit the downtown Coimbra with the arch of Almedina and the Church of Santa Cruz where the first King of Portugal, Dom Afonso Henriques, is buried. Our arrival in Porto will be at the end of the day.
Fourth day of our itinerary with the visit to the second most important city of Portugal, the city of Porto. We will start our day by visiting the Lello bookstore, the Porto Cathedral, the Stock Exchange Palace, the São Francisco Church, among others. At lunch we can try one of Porto’s typical dishes such as “Francesinha” a super-hot sandwich with a lightly spicy sauce or the famous casings of Porto. Time for visit and tasting of a port wine cellar in Gaia, optional a boat trip on the river with an approximate duration of 50 minutes, passing under the 6 bridges that cross the Douro river in Porto.
Leaving our hotel in Porto, having the first stop in Amarante, to visit the Church of São Gonçalo, in this quiet village that once showed its “race” against the French during Napoleon’s invasion of Portugal. Then we continue our day to the Alto Douro vineyard where we will visit at least one Quinta producing this nectar of the Gods wine, in this place considered by many of the most beautiful in the World. Time to learn a little more about this culture that is wine as well as taste it, of course.
We start our day with a visit to Braga the city of archbishops, where we will visit its cathedral as well as the historical center. Then we will go to the sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte, where we will go on a little trip in a water powered elevator … yes water, without ever having an accident. After the visit we will go to Guimarães which is known as the Cradle of Portugal with its castle and its historical center. Return to Lisbon
